"Margarita Madness"
This quilt was designed in a weeklong workshop with
Jan Krentz at Empty Spools Seminars - Asilomar, California. This bright
and colorful lone star quilt comes complete with chips, salsa, and
"salted" margarita glasses. A party in itself! It won First
Place in the Marin Needle Arts Quilt Show, Marin, California in 2004.
It was also entered into and selected for judging for the $100,000.00
Quilt Challenge in 2004 AND a finalist in the Pacific Northwest Quiltfest
2006 - a Juried and Judged Exhibition of the Finest Quilts and Wearables
in the Pacific Northwest - Seattle, Washington.

"Too Many Peppers"

"stuffed" appliqué pieces, and other colorful chili
peppers. A first original design in a series of sizzling chili pepper
quilts, it won third place and a cash prize in the 1999 quilt challenge.

"Cherry Baskets"
This traditional log cabin/appliqué quilt was
completed in a class at the Quilted Angel Quilt Shop in Petaluma,
California, taught by Donna Heinrich. A first attempt with the log
cabin pattern, this variation also incorporated hand appliquéd
cherries on the "baskets" - log cabin block set vertical.
It was constructed with Aunt Grace reproduction fabrics. The colorful
border and pieced binding uses fabric scraps that were too pretty
to leave out. A mixed technique quilt, it was entered into the 1999
Marin Needle Arts Quilt Show and won 2nd place.

"A
Cowgirl's Tale"
This vest was designed in a weeklong workshop with
Rosemary Eichorn at Empty Spools Seminars - Asilomar, California.
This raw-edged appliquéd vest was constructed on a muslin foundation
with numerous individual western fabric pieces. It tells the tale
of the cowgirls and their experiences in the Old West. Reversible
with "cowhide" cotton on the opposite side, and adorned
with a silver star. It is free motion quilted, hand painted, raw edged
appliquéd, and completed with hand-made metallic cording. This
whimsical vest was accepted as a finalist in the Pacific Northwest
Quiltfest 2006 - a Juried and Judged Exhibition of the Finest Quilts
and Wearables in the Pacific Northwest - Seattle, Washington.

"Hearts"
A very first attempt at needle turn hand appliqué,
this original wall hanging of six practice hearts quickly turned into
a full size quilt of 62 hand appliquéd hearts. It was started
in a class with Donna Heinrich at the Quilted Angel Quilt Shop in
Petaluma, California. A first time entry into the Marin Needle Arts
Quilt Show as "My First Quilt" it won 1st place in 1999!
